Trivia

Hagane no Kokoro

There's a simple explanation for the difference between the Japanese and English episode titles. Fullmetal Alchemist is known in Japanese as "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi", or literally "Steel Alchemist". The series is often referred to by Japanese fans as Hagaren for short, from the first two syllables of hagane and renkinjutsushi. It's similar to how the name "Pokemon" comes from shortening the original name "Pocket Monsters".

Hagane no Kokoro is also the name of one of the tracks on the Japanese FMA album, "Hagaren Song File -Edward Elric-". Alphonse Elric, Winry Rockbell, Maes Hughes and Roy Mustang also got their own albums, although fans used to the English version's voice actors might not appreciate them since they use the Japanese voice actors. Also released were three Fullmetal Alchemist Original Sound Tracks (OSTs), all eight opening and ending themes, the soundtrack to the Fullmetal Alchemist Wingless Angel game, and the Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Best set which includes all eight opening/ending themes along with clean versions of the openings and endings on DVD.
