Seriously, it's ridiculously gruesome AND Edward looks like a freaking psycho in it. I loved the anime, I even collected every DVD but it's OVER WITH NOW. Okay, I've gotten over the fact that FMA is over, but some of you refuse to believe that and you got into the magna because of your denial and you don't even realize that the magna GOES AGAINST nearly EVERYTHING you loved in the anime. But seriously, THINK ABOUT IT if you haven't realized it yet. I've read parts of the magna myself wondering "why does everyone love this all of a sudden?" and I've come to the conclusion that those of you who loved the anime are now in denial that it could be over (WHICH IT IS) and try to keep the memory of FMA in your minds by reading the magna. I think it's sad that so many loyal FMA fans would sell-out so fast...
A) It's Manga, not Magna. Manga is a Japanese word meaning cartoon or comic. Magna is a Latin adjective in the Nominative Singular Feminine or Nominative Plural Neuter meaning "large" or "great"
B) Of course it's gruesome, I believe it's rated PG-13. The Anime is too, anyways.
C) There's a reason for the manga to go against the anime. It's a different storyline. This was, in fact, intentional. Also, the anime was created after the manga, so in fact the anime goes against the manga.
Sorry, I agree with computer kid. I like the manga better.
Also, like they said, the anime came after the manga. The manga wasn't done yet, so the animators made up an alternate ending.
No knock on the anime, though. It was good, but in my opinion the manga was better.
But this forum was originally made for the ANIME not the MANGA (whatever) and all y'alls who said "omg I love the anime and I won't ever stop" sold out and got into the manga which SUCKS compared to it (in the eyes of a TRUE FMA fan)

How in the HELL can you call anyone a sell-out just because they like the manga better? Did you ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe someone could see the anime go "Eh...that's pretty good...I wonder what the manga's like?" Then upon looking into the manga they discover they like it better? Heaven fucking forbid. But hey, you're entitled to your own oppinion and I'm not trying to put you down for it...I'm just saying that everyone else is also entitled to their own respective oppinions, and throwing insults around because of differing oppinions just makes you look foolish. :/
By the way, my personal oppinion is that the manga is far supperior to the anime, and I watched (and mostly enjoyed) the anime first. Honestly though, there are too many plotholes, too much predictability, and frankly just not enough depth of character in the anime. But hey, that's just my oppinion/

And actually, in Japan, anime and manga are for all ages/people, whereas in the US people (specifically 4Kids) seem to think it's meant for the younger generation. Case in point: One Piece.

Maybe it's just me, but isn't judging based on popularity worse than 'selling out?' That's like saying Britney Spears is a better singer than Jon Foreman because her name is more well-known. Besides, as far as I know, the only reason the anime is more popular is because people in general would rather watch TV than read, and thus that is what the media caters to.
Also, Ouran is awesome.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAnd this whole FMA manga vs. anime debate reminds me of something. A lil thing called Disco, anyone know what that is? The anime is like disco and the manga is the 90s. Everyone said "disco would never die" but apparently to those who said that it died faster than u could even say that phrase and u jumped into the 90s because that's where the crowd was moving.
I'm not saying you should stay with disco or the anime, I'm just saying when u make a statement like "disco will never die" or "I'll always love the FMA anime more than the manga", keep your promise and don't just go where the flow is.
Its pretty much come to who's gonna keep what they said about the anime and who's gonna go with the flow and move onto the manga, even though pretty much everyone used to say "the anime's always gonna be better" (those are the people who are sell-outs)

Since we're on to watching animes, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai for season two) or When They Cry in English is a pretty good horror/mystery/thought provoking series. It's amateur animation, and so far I think only season one's out in the US, but it's still good, and you can find it on youtube.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star are both awesome. And Escaflowne, man, I haven't seen it since like seventh grade, but I remember it being full of awesome. I was just as obsessed with that as I am with FMA right now. @_@
