Funny thing is, my friend recommended Fullmetal Alchemist to me years before, and after reading a short summary, I immediately rejected it. The summary was NOT good. From what it was telling me, I was imagining Edward and Alphonse--both teenagers--in this dark, secret laboratory with glass beakers full of various chemicals...and Al lost his body...image of Frankenstein appears here. O___o;;
A long while later, I found something while searching for the Numa Numa (xD) and I found a Fullmetal Alchemist AMV to the Numa Numa...and that was the very first I saw of FMA. Weird. Numa Numa FMA. xDDD Hilarious. It's on YouTube, by the way...
moogle first saw FMA wayyyyy befor it got dubed to english. moogles firend had bought a boxset of it at the chines mall and fell in love with it. then she shoved the baddly subtitled coppy into moogles hands and then the romance began >_<
I'm more of a Blood+ Hagi fangirl now that FMA is over and I've memorized the entire anime by heart, and own the entire anime DVD's. I first saw FMA when I was still in school, it was the episode "the truth behind truths" and it was on adult swim. I watched it for a minute and thought "screw this"... a few years later I watched it during the summer after I left school and I got totally into it, watching it every night on adult swim and even started collecting all the DVD's...
Well FMA is OVER now, no more episodes, no more surprise bor-to the freaking-ing and I'm not gonna sell-out for the manga, so I'm just gonna keep moving on, like I did with all my other animes I used to love and got into the next anime with the next sexy guy. And Blood+ just happens to be the next anime for me and Hagi's my next guy. Sorry guys but FMA is OVER.
-ignores the better part of MC's comment- I'm sorry, but I wouldn't care if FMA didn't have any "sexy" guys, as you put it. And I dun care if FMA's over--there's something special about it that might be called "life themes" that other animes lack. And this is a comment from a total anime hater. O.o;

I know, type in FMA on LJ, and you get all kinds of reponses. FMA might be over, but the fandom is still alive and well, and I hope that continues.
I don't know about Blood+, I've kinda had a falling out with it, it dosen't really catch my intrest anymore. -shrugs- I also kinda think Saya has gotten really whiny.
FMA will propable continue to a legasy much like gundum, astroboy, sailor moon and naruto. animes that will never die even if the series is over. it just did so well that the younger generation will just continue to watch and pass on
